Safety
For the first check in, an adult must accompany the child to the Children’s Program front desk at the Comiskey Room. The primary contact’s name and phone number, as well as those of any other authorized adults, will be documented by Children’s Program staff.
If children are not picked up at the close of the Children’s Program hours, an authorized adult will be contacted through the phone number given in the initial check in process. If attempts to contact an authorized adult are unsuccessful, we will contact Chicon 8 Operations.
Discipline
If a child engages in inappropriate, disruptive, or dangerous behavior they will be taken aside and spoken to by a Children’s Program staff member with the intent of defusing the situation and reinforcing the need for respect of people and property. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated. If the situation cannot be defused, an authorized adult will be notified and asked to come pick up the child. If the child engages in repeated inappropriate or disruptive behavior or has behaved in a manner that could seriously harm others, they are subject to having their Children’s Program privileges revoked. This is an under the age of 13 space and age-appropriate language and behavior is expected.
Support from an Authorized Adult
If a child finds specific activities and environments challenging, we encourage an authorized adult to stay and participate with them. Children’s Program staff strive to be as helpful as possible, but they are not trained in the specific needs of any one child.
